Overview
Tokyo Bunka Kaikan will host the Machinaka Concert "Autumn of the Arts, a Musical Stroll" at Kyu-Iwasaki-tei Garden in Ueno. The venue is the former residence of the Iwasaki family, founders of the Mitsubishi zaibatsu. Its historic buildings include a Western-style house, a Japanese-style house and a billiard room, set in a large lawn garden. This leafy space in central Tokyo is popular for letting visitors enjoy historic architecture and seasonal scenery together.
The concert takes place on the lawn in front of the 1st-floor veranda of the Western-style house. Its main appeal is the open-air setting: you can relax on the grass while listening to live music. Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, based in Ueno Park, has organized classical music and other concerts for many years. As part of that work, this "Machinaka Concert" brings music to the out-of-the-ordinary setting of a garden.
There will be two performances: the first from 13:00 to 13:30 and the second from 15:00 to 15:30. With two time slots on the same day, you can choose whichever suits your schedule. The concert is open to ages 0 and up, so families with small children are welcome. True to its name, "Musical Stroll," this autumn event lets visitors enjoy the garden scenery as well as the concert.
In case of rain, the concert will move to the Grand Dining Room on the 1st floor of the Western-style house. Because the outdoor lawn concert will then be held indoors, the setting will depend on the weather on the day.
