Overview

"Garden Tour with Japanese Umbrellas" is a joint event across nine Tokyo Metropolitan Gardens, including Kyu-Iwasaki-tei Gardens. Visitors can stroll through the gardens carrying traditional Japanese umbrellas (wagasa). Hours during the event are 9:00–17:00 (last entry 16:30).

Kyu-Iwasaki-tei Gardens is a Tokyo Metropolitan garden in Ikenohata, Taito-ku, Tokyo. On the former Iwasaki family estate, the historic garden still has its Western-style house, Japanese-style house and billiard room. Because the event runs across all nine Tokyo Metropolitan Gardens, visitors can take their Japanese umbrella walks at several gardens.

Underground & Billiard Room Guided Tour Held on November 16, 2026

The guided tour of the underground passage to the billiard room and the billiard room interior, both normally closed to the public, usually takes place on the 15th of each month. In November 2026, it will be held on 11/16 instead. Tours run twice, at 10:00 and 13:00, with up to 10 people per tour. Registration is at the counter on the day, first come, first served (you can only register yourself).
