Former Tokyo Music School Sogakudo Announces October and November Open Days; Closed October 27–28 for Exhibition Change
The Former Tokyo Music School Sogakudo in Ueno has announced its building open days for October and November. During this period, the building is open only on set days each month. It will also be closed on Tuesday, October 27 and Wednesday, October 28 for an exhibition change. If you plan to visit, check the open days before you go.
A Meiji-Era Building Worth Checking Ahead For
The Former Tokyo Music School Sogakudo was built in the Meiji era. This announcement lists 12 open days in October and 13 in November. Because the building is not open every day, it's a good idea to confirm whether your day is an open day, even if you're just planning to drop by while in Ueno.
Most open days fall on Sundays, but some weekdays such as Tuesdays and Wednesdays are included too. Whether you're exploring Ueno on a weekend or have time on a weekday, you can choose a day that fits your plans. The building closes in late October for the exhibition change, and after it reopens, November has open days at a pace of roughly two to three per week.
Things to Know Before Your Visit
As a Meiji-era building, the interior is not barrier-free. Wheelchair users, visitors with limited mobility and those coming with strollers should plan their visit with this in mind.
Photography inside the hall is not allowed while rehearsals or concerts are taking place on stage. If you'd like to take photos of the interior, keep in mind that there are times when photography is not permitted, and follow the instructions given on site. Please be considerate during your visit so as not to disturb performances or rehearsals.
Closure for Exhibition Change
The building will be closed for two days, Tuesday, October 27 and Wednesday, October 28, for an exhibition change. The last open day in October is Sunday, the 25th, and the first open day after the closure is Sunday, November 1. If you plan to visit around this time, please check the schedule carefully.
