Akafuku Sells Summer-Only "Akafuku Mizu Yokan" at Matsuzakaya Ueno for the First Time

Akafuku, a long-established Japanese confectioner from Ise in Mie Prefecture, will sell its summer-only "Akafuku Mizu Yokan" at Matsuzakaya Ueno for the first time. Founded in the Edo period, Akafuku is known across Japan for its signature "Akafuku Mochi," rice cake topped with smooth red bean paste. The sweet has long been a popular souvenir for visitors to Ise Grand Shrine, and the company also puts effort into seasonal limited-edition products. "Akafuku Mizu Yokan," now arriving in Ueno, is one of its summer-only items, and this is the first time it has been sold at Matsuzakaya Ueno.

From September 10, it will also be sold at the store's "Autumn Gourmet Fair." The fair brings together specialty foods and famous sweets from across Japan and is popular with shoppers and food lovers visiting Ueno. With Akafuku offering a seasonal mizu yokan as well as its classic Akafuku Mochi, visitors will have a new option to choose from.

It is a chance to easily enjoy the taste of a long-established confectioner in Ueno, and it is likely to draw attention from fans of Japanese sweets and people shopping for souvenirs.
