Overview
Taito City will host the "20th Youth Festival: Shitamachi Kids Festival" around Shinobazu Pond on September 13, 2026.
This year is the festival's 20th edition. The youth festival has long been part of the community. As its nickname "Shitamachi Kids Festival" suggests, it has carried on as an event with the old-town (shitamachi) atmosphere typical of Ueno and Taito City.
The venue, Shinobazu Pond, lies within Ueno Park. Walking paths and open spaces, including spots known for lotus flowers, are scattered around it, and the area is a place for local residents and visitors to relax. Another feature of the festival is that Taito City hosts it in this open setting.
