[Ueno] Pipe Organ and Harpsichord Workshop! From September 23 at the Former Tokyo Music School Sogakudo
Overview
The Former Tokyo Music School Sogakudo is holding "Let's Play the Pipe Organ and Harpsichord!", a hands-on workshop where participants can actually play a pipe organ and a harpsichord.
The Sogakudo is known as a concert hall built in the Meiji era and is a rare venue where historic keyboard instruments are still in use. A pipe organ produces sound by sending air through its pipes, while a harpsichord plucks its strings with a plectrum, so both create sound differently from a piano. Touching and playing instruments you would normally only hear at concerts is a rare opportunity.
The workshop is designed for anyone to join, whether or not they have experience playing an instrument, making it a must-see for anyone around Ueno Park who wants to experience historic architecture and musical culture.
