[Ueno] Edo Shitamachi Bon Odori & Street Food Festival at Takenodai Square in Ueno Park from October 9!
Overview
The "Edo Shitamachi Bon Odori & Street Food Festival" will take place for four days, from Friday, October 9 to Monday, October 12, 2026, at Takenodai Square (Fountain Plaza) in Ueno Park.
The festival is organized by the Tokyo Edo Week 2026 Executive Committee. True to the words "Edo" and "shitamachi" (old downtown) in its name, the event combines two things: bon odori dancing and street food.
Bon odori is a traditional Japanese event in which members of the local community dance the same steps together in a circle. At this festival, bon odori is paired with street food stalls. Visitors can spend their time however they like, whether by joining the dance circle, enjoying food from the stalls, or simply soaking up the atmosphere.
The venue, Takenodai Square, is a plaza inside Ueno Park, also widely known as Fountain Plaza. It will be a familiar spot to anyone who has visited Ueno before. You can also drop by while strolling through the park or while shopping and dining in the Ueno area.
The festival runs for four days, from Friday to Monday. Because the dates include a weekend, it is easy to fit into your plans, whether after work on a weekday or on a weekend outing.
Details such as admission fees and opening hours have not yet been announced, so please check the latest information before visiting.
