[Ueno] "YOUFES2026" Is Coming to Yushima, Okachimachi and Ueno!
"YOUFES2026," a block-party-style shitamachi (old downtown) music festival set in the streets of Yushima, Okachimachi and Ueno, has been announced.
What sets it apart is that the stage isn't a particular hall or venue: it's the neighborhoods of Yushima, Okachimachi and Ueno themselves. These adjoining areas of Taito-ku span the surroundings of Ueno Station, Okachimachi Station and Yushima Station. A "block party" generally means a local party where people from a city block or neighborhood gather to enjoy music and more. Billed as a "shitamachi music festival," the event looks set to pair the old downtown streetscape with music.
Ueno is known as a cultural hub, home to art museums, museums and a large park. Okachimachi is a shopping district full of busy shopping streets, Ameyoko among them. Yushima is known for Yushima Tenjin and has kept its calm streets. These three neighborhoods, each with its own character, will come together as the stage for one music festival. It will be worth seeing how familiar streets and neighborhoods look when music fills them.
At the time of writing, details such as dates, specific venues, prices and performers had not been confirmed. We will share updates as soon as they're available.
