[Ueno] Sunday Concerts at the Former Tokyo Music School Sogakudo! Hear the harpsichord and pipe organ for next to nothing with museum admission
Overview
The "Sunday Concerts" are held regularly on Sundays at the Former Tokyo Music School Sogakudo in Ueno. The harpsichord is performed on the 1st and 3rd Sundays and the pipe organ on the 2nd and 4th Sundays, so you can enjoy the sound of a different instrument depending on which Sunday of the month you visit.
The performers are undergraduate and graduate students of the Tokyo University of the Arts Faculty of Music. The concerts are a chance to hear young musicians play live up close in the Sogakudo, a rare and special performance space. Both the harpsichord and the pipe organ are instruments seldom heard in everyday life today, and being able to hear both at the same venue, depending on the Sunday, is an appeal you won't easily find elsewhere.
Concerts start at 14:00. Admission is 300 yen (100 yen for elementary, junior high and high school students), a reasonable price for a concert. Note that preschool children are not admitted, so keep this in mind if you plan to visit with small children.
